Registrations

Starting something new usually means more than one registration — the business structure itself, plus whatever licences and identifiers the specific trade requires. This pillar covers both: choosing and incorporating the right structure, and the statutory and licence registrations that typically follow it.

Clients arrive here at very different stages — some with a business already running informally and simply need to formalise it, others starting entirely from scratch and unsure even which structure fits. Both are handled the same way: the structure conversation happens first, before anything is filed.

Getting the structure right before you register anything else

Every registration that follows — GST, MSME, a bank account, a trademark — is filed against the entity you choose at the outset, and switching structures later is its own procedure with its own cost. Where a client hasn't already decided between, say, a private limited company and an LLP, that conversation happens before any form is filed, not after.

The right structure depends on ordinary, answerable questions: will you raise outside funding, how many founders are involved, and how much annual compliance are you prepared to take on. We work through those before recommending anything, rather than defaulting to whichever structure is quickest to file.

Frequently asked questions

Which business structure should I register?

It depends on whether you plan to raise external funding, how many founders are involved, and how much annual compliance you're prepared to take on — the comparison on our private limited company registration page sets out the main trade-offs.

Do I need a registered office before I can incorporate?

Yes, a registered office address with supporting proof is required at the time of incorporation, though it can be a residential address in most cases.

Can a registration be done entirely online?

Yes — incorporation, GST, Udyam, IEC and most of the licences in this list are filed online; digital signature and Aadhaar-based verification for the promoters take the place of physical presence.

Do I need all of these registrations at once?

No — most businesses need the entity registration plus one or two of the others (typically GST and Udyam); the rest apply only if your specific trade or size triggers them.

How long does it take to register a new business end to end?

Incorporation itself typically takes 7-12 working days; ancillary registrations like GST and Udyam are usually quicker once the entity exists, but overall timing depends on which registrations your business actually needs.

Can I register a business at a home address?

Yes, in most cases — many of these registrations, including incorporation and GST, accept a residential address as the registered or principal place of business provided valid proof and, where rented, the owner's consent are furnished.

Not sure which service fits?

Describe your situation in a sentence or two. A partner will tell you what it involves, what we'll need from you and the timeline — before any work begins.
